A group of our men are heading up to Forest Home Conference Center this coming Friday afternoon for a weekend men’s conference. Pray for our group. And send baked goodies for our evening snacks. Enroute to Forest Home this Friday afternoon we will stop by Famous Dave’s BBQ in Redlands for a light snack (ok, “light” is a relative term).
Our groups that took Easter Week breaks are all now meeting on their regular schedules. Check the bulletin for your group meetings.
Liz Milian & Ben (plus Dylan one week) have led us in worship on Sunday mornings recently. Tori & Ben also teamed up on Easter Sunday. Liz heading back home with her family to Arizona. Liz will be with us again soon. And Tori will rejoin us her once she graduates in a few weeks.
2 Peter 3:18 is our verse for the year of 2016. “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” We will visit the passage periodically throughout the year.
WHY DID I CHOOSE 2 PETER 3:18 FOR THE YEAR? It’s a great lesson. You can be the most skilled and talented person alive, but if you are running on empty, you are going to crash and burn. Refueling is one of the most important things in life. We teach it all the time. The most important thing you can do for your life and for your future and for your relationships is to keep your spiritual batteries recharged. And that is why we select a verse of the year that God uses to shape our lives and our church.
Remember the old story about the turtle on the fencepost? We will build on April 3 on the REASONABLE DOUBT of Thomas we studied in John 20 on Easter Sunday and consider some words from the Apostle Paul in Acts 17. I have titled my message, Can an Educated Modern Person Consider the Christian Faith?
God’s best to you,
Pastor Richard
